One of a series which taught generations how to read in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Although the Janet and John books seem quintessentially English the author, Rona Munro was from New Zealand and the books were first published in the US. But it wasn’t until they were published in England in 1949 that they found huge popularity.

In the end these much loved children’s books taught generations how to read and evoke fond memories for most parents, until the 1970s when they went out of fashion.

These replicas of the first stories include the delightful colour illustrations by Florence and Margaret Hoopes and even the original textured covers. Charming and a wonderful trip down memory lane for those who remember them, the simple repetitive text that developed the reading skills of so many would still be equally effective for new generations.
