There are more than 2,000 species of Stick Insect but this Indian or Carausius Morosus variety is among the easiest to look after and will live happily at room temperature. The kit you receive includes a flexible net cage, magnifying glass, pipette and egg voucher. When ready, the voucher can be redeemed by post or online. The eggs are then placed in the cage to hatch. The young Stick Insects (called nymphs) eat either ivy, bramble or privet stems. They grow quickly and within seven months there will be mature Stick Insects ready to start forming the next generation. The accompanying guide gives details on the peculiarities of the Stick Insect lifestyle and details of how to care for them. Endless fascination for all ages.

7/31/2008: Had the kit bought for me at Christmas by my daughter as hubby is allergic to anything furry! Fascinating to see them emerge from eggs, then grow and shed their skins! Still awaiting a new generation, but looking forward to being a proud grandparent!!! Best gift ever!

7/8/2008: Bought this superb kit for Christmas for our 2 boys. Registration online was surprisingly easy and a few days later the eggs arrived by post. We then had to be very patient but just as you think nothing will come of them, out March tiny little creatures who will entertain you and your family with their perfect impressions of a stick. Do handle them with care initially (my boys are quite young) and they'll soon grow into fully fledged adults sticks! Cleaning is easy & fun, ivy can be found everywhere, truly the best pets ever! By now, ours have produced a new generation which my boys are distributing at primary school, thus gaining lots of brownie points ;o)
